Hahahaha is a continuation of text based paintings that brings together geometric abstraction and human language. I think I was feeling the need to laugh at my life, not in a cynical way – more the kind of laugh at God, or god, or the idea of a god. (I much prefer the idea of gods, plural.) Do you ever look at the letters of a word and it becomes alien for a moment? Look at this: god. It’s a freaky kind of release a bit like laughter. This is the kind of sensibility I’m groping toward here. I hope the sentiment is infectious through the painting.

Now that I write this, I think I’ll have to make the next text work: god.
