Untitled (Crystalline Epiphany) presents an intensified matrix of circles, as those in Transitional Space (After Jeremy Shaw), in which the frequency of circles is doubled on both the horizontal and vertical axes. This work was actually the first to use this dense matrix, and represents a breakthrough for me in working with colour and form. The strong, primary colours were derived on the colours of flags as a starting point, but the desire to intuitively explore transitions of colour, some hard, some soft, took over in importance to making some sort of ‘political’ statement.
