A Rhythm of Edging

S/P: A Rhythm of Edging is the first painting I have used circles and lines that are drawn by hand. The work is a self portrait of sorts; my image is the hint of a shadow. I roughly map out the outer edges of the painting in units as a starting point. This means the centre of the image becomes the most contingent space of the picture plane.

Throughout the year of 2024, I want to experiment more with different amounts of what I render by hand and what is drawn using the tools of geometry.

I still see the same issues at play as in my previous works regarding the sacred and profane, human and scientific languages, and symbolic play through frustrating the orientation of verticality and horizontality. I’ve simply paired down the characters in the extreme.
